During the initial stages of desgin, Frutiger disregarded the formal strictness of geometry as he opted to determine the stroke and letter widths by feel. These sculptures explore the typographic detail found in various weights of Univers and the process mirrors Frutiger’s initial drawings as the typeface takes a new 3 dimensional form. The objects have been created by hand and eye without calculation.
